LANSING, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – The Michigan Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is reminding residents to be careful if they are going to light any fires.

DNR officials said that even with recent showers in some parts of the state, much of Michigan is very dry right now, and that makes fire safety a high priority.

The online U.S. drought monitor map shows much of Michigan’s northern Lower Peninsula and the Thumb experiencing “abnormally dry” conditions.
