DETROIT (Michigan News Source) – General Motors is getting a rather hefty loan from the government to spur it’s electric vehicle development.

The U-S Department of Energy announced it will lend $2.5 million dollars to General Motors and LGG to build new electric vehicle battery plants in Michigan, Ohio and Tennessee.

GM will expand it’s Orion Township plant, build an electric battery manufacturing facility in Lansing and upgrade two Lansing area plants creating 4,000 new jobs in Michigan.

CEO Mary Barra predicts they will sell more electric vehicles in the U-S than Tesla by 2025. Currently, GM sells one tenth of the electric vehicles Tesla does.
