LANSING, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – A Lansing-area high school’s mascot is on its way out.
J.W. Sexton High School’s Big Red mascot is no more after the Lansing School District received an $87,500 grant from the Native American Heritage Fund (NAHF) to support the development of a new mascot, logo and branding for Sexton.
The NAHF grant and rebranding process will gather input from students, alumni, teachers, and the community to select a new Sexton logo, name, and mascot.
School officials described it as a complete reboot of the brand.
