MARQUETTE, Mich. (Michigan News Source) –What started as a day in nature almost caused a man his life.

A group of friends were riding their bikes on Grand Island in the Upper Peninsula’s Hiawatha National Forest when they decided to take a more scenic route.

After stopping, one man left his bike and walked near an edge of a cliff when he slipped on a wet root, falling 70 feet.

He hit his face on the cliff before falling into Lake Superior.

He was pulled from the water and transported to U.P. Health System – Marquette. He is reported to be in stable condition.
