TRAVERSE CITY, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Plans for a new bridge are taking shape in Northern Michigan, and it is on track to be the third longest in the state.
A proposed $100 million bridge near Traverse City would allow drivers to cross the Boardman River at a length of 2,000 feet. If built, the bridge would come in third behind the Mackinac Bridge’s 26,000 feet. The Zilwaukee Bridge is more than 8,000 feet.

The Grand Traverse County Road Commission has been working for decades to build a new crossing over the Boardman River. Recently, the board approved it and gave the green light to start moving forward.
If everything goes smoothly, it will be another six years before vehicles are driving over the new bridge.
