YPSILANTI, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Spin electric scooters have descended on campus the campus of Eastern Michigan University this week.

The company deployed 50 scooters so far and expects that number to cap at 150 scooters.

Riders must be at least 18-years-old and have a valid driver’s license. It costs $1 to unlock the scooter and 39-cents a minute to ride.

The scooters have geofencing technology that decrease its speed from 15 miles-per-hour to 8 in slow zones on campus.

The goal of providing the scooters is to limit auto congestion on campus.
