GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – The city of Grand Rapids is upgrading to a new state of the art fire station.

The $25 million fire station will replace the current nearly 100-year-old building that has become to expensive to keep repairing.

In addition, the current building is not suitable for larger modern firetrucks.

The new facility will have a training center, vehicle storage, bunks and social rooms and an emergency center.

Construction should start in the summer of 2024 and by completed by the end of 2025. It’s the first new station in the city since 1987.
