LANSING, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – This Labor Day weekend, the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) will move orange barrels to the side of the road and remove lane restrictions on an upwards of 100 road and bridge projects statewide.

The goal is to ease traffic delays for holiday travelers.

Labor Day marks the unofficial end to a Michigan summer, and many people try to pack in one last trip “Up North” or a visit with family and friends.

From Friday, September 2 through the morning of Tuesday, September 6, drivers will see lane restrictions removed on 96 out of 162 projects statewide.

While motorists will see suspended operations in most MDOT work zones for the weekend, drivers should still prepare for certain traffic configurations to remain in place, like temporary shifts or shoulder closures.
