TROY, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Officials are warning people who work out at gyms to keep an eye on their personal items after they say a woman stole credit cards and wallets from gym lockers at several fitness centers.
Federal prosecutors say they are charging Elsie Hobbs after they say she stole wallets and credit cards from gym lockers in Troy.
Better Business Bureau serving Eastern Michigan president and CEO Melanie Duquesnel says people need to pay attention. Gyms can sometimes create a familiar and casual atmosphere where everyone trusts each other, but she reminds people to remain vigilent.
Hobbs is accused of the thefts at Planet Fitness, Explore Yoga, and CycleBar from March 2021 to March 2022.
