LANSING, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Michigan News Source/Trafalgar released a new poll on Sunday night that puts the Michigan gubernatorial race in a dead heat.

The Michigan News Source survey of 1,079 likely voters in The Great Lakes State finds Democratic Governor Gretchen Whitmer with 48.4% support and GOP challenger Tudor Dixon with 47.9% of the vote. This means that Dixon, following her strong performance in the first debate on October 13, appears to have blown away all predictions and brought the race to a dead heat.

Despite being outspent by tens of millions of dollars by the Whitmer campaign, Republican newcomer Dixon’s message appears to be resonating with voters on key issues like the economy and crime.

Whitmer and Dixon will have their second and final debate on Tuesday October 25 at Oakland University. Right now it looks like the pressure is on the Democrat’s once rising star Whitmer to stave off the accelerating campaign of her Republican challenger Dixon in the closing days of the 2022 mid-term elections.
