LANSING, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Gas prices across Michigan continue to spike, with the average price for regular unleaded jumping to $4.36 per gallon.
Prices have increased 19 cents since last week. It is 50 cents higher than in September and $1.03 higher than October 2021, according to AAA.
Drivers can expect to pay about $65 for a full 15-gallon tank of gas.
According to AAA, the supply problems in Michigan and the rest of the Midwest are the ripple effects of a September fire at an Ohio oil refinery. AAA says the refinery could be offline until December due to an investigation into the fire.
Last week, Fox News reporter Peter Doocy asked White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre, “You’ve said the President was responsible for gas prices coming down. Is [he] responsible for gas prices going up?”
Jean-Pierre replied, “So, it’s a lot more nuanced than that…You know this. There have been global challenges…There’s been pandemic and…Putin’s war.”
Lansing ($4.43), Saginaw ($4.43) and Flint ($4.43) saw the highest prices, while, Metro Detroit ($4.29), Traverse City ($4.31) and Benton Harbor ($4.35) gas stations charged the lowest prices.
