LANSING, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Within one day of the second and final gubernatorial debate where many media pundits gave GOP candidate Tudor Dixon the win, Gov. Gretchen Whitmer appears to be plugging the holes where some say her debate responses fell short.

On Wednesday, she sent out an email to Michigan parents asking them to complete a survey regarding their child’s school and overall education.

Some liked the governor’s approach.

However, it did not take long for others to pounce.

Lisa West posted to the Facebook group “MICHIGAN Save Our Kids” about the survey: “Big Gretch is surveying parents about their children’s education. Let’s tell her how we REALLY feel.”

Jess Rene shared similar sentiments in the same group, “Y’all go buck wild on this!!”

One commenter said, “What a joke and interesting timing. 1 day after her debate where she flat out lied and 2 weeks before election. Will she read them? Nope.” Another wrote, “The election is coming. She has to act like she cares.”

Twitter returned similar comments.

That post referenced Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s statement in Tuesday night’s debate where she falsely claimed that Michigan students were only out of the classroom for three months in 2020.

In fact, some schools began online in the fall of 2020, and in November of that year, Gov. Whitmer shut down schools again to curb what she said was an impending coronavirus outbreak.

According to the Washington Examiner, “Some districts shut down their classrooms for nearly a year — Ann Arbor’s district began its 2022 school year virtually — and Whitmer never made any attempt to reopen them.”
