LANSING, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Michigan schools are struggling to get students back into classrooms.

State data indicates that Michigan students, especially homeless students, are attending school at a lower rate than they did before the pandemic.

Statewide attendance for the 2021-22 school year fell to 88%. That’s more than 4% lower than the previous year.

Officials with the Michigan Department of Education say they are focusing on partnering with school districts to help identify problems specific to their area that keep kids from getting to school.
