GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – The Board of Education for Grand Rapids Public Schools decided to tear down the old Adelante High School after approving the facilities master plan on Monday night.

The master plan had been discussed at several town halls before Monday night’s vote.

In addition, Superintendent Leadriane Roby said the master plan includes the potential to close multiple schools in the district. That move will be decided after further research.

The old Adelante High School joins another vacant building on Alexander Street to be leveled.

The next phase of the facilities plan will begin to take shape over the next year, including deciding which schools will be closed.

More more public input will be sought at town halls before decisions are made on school closures.
