LUCE COUNTY, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – An unusual winter phenomenon is happening in the Upper Peninsula.
Thanks to cold temperatures and turbulent waters, “ice pancakes” are forming beneath Tahquamenon Falls.

Pancake sizes can vary from one to 10 feet depending on the where it occurs.
Winter is a great time to check out the falls. The entrance road and parking area to the Lower Falls is kept cleared, you’ll have to hike about a mile to get to the falls.
