LANSING, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Governor  Gretchen Whitmer announced on Friday that roughly $176.6 million in funding will go towards building or improving nearly 700 affordable housing units across the state.

The 17 projects range from Grand Rapids to Jackson, from Cheboygan to Detroit, and from Pinconning to Three Rivers.

According to a press release from Whitmer’s office, the projects will create more than 60 permanent jobs and roughly 1,100 temporary jobs.

“As rents and home prices go up across the state, it’s clear that quality, affordable housing is out of reach for far too many Michiganders,” said Gov. Whitmer. “We must build more housing, which is what makes this program so important.”
