TRAVERSE CITY, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – An idea 30-years-in-the-making to build a bridge to bypass Traverse City to help alleviate traffic congestion has finally been given the green light.
Traverse City is one of the fastest growing communities in the state and traffic congestion within the city has become an issue, especially in the highly traveled summer months.

The proposed 2,200-foot bridge would cross the city from East to West at a cost of $100 million, with a 120-year lifespan.
Most of the funding is expected to come from federal infrastructure grans. Once built, it will be Michigan’s fourth longest bridge.
