LANSING, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – The 2022 deer hunting season numbers have been released by the Michigan DNR.

More than 586,000 hunters purchased a deer license.

Hunters harvested more than 280,000 deer in the Lower Peninsula, with almost 23,000 reported in the Upper Peninsula.

The season officially opened up with the Liberty Hunt on September 9th, and closed with the urban deer hunt in Wayne, Oakland and Macomb Counties on January 31.

This was the first year hunters were required by law to report their harvest withing 72 hours by using the new DNR app.
