MARQUETTE, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Sled dog races in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula are a favorite winter pastime, but three popular races are being cancelled due to an uncooperative Mother Nature.
Due to the rain and unseasonably warm temperatures, the UP200, Midnight Run, and Jack Pine 30 are cancelled for this weekend in Marquette.

Officials from the Upper Peninsula Sled Dog Association (UPSDA) stated safety is their top priority and due to the rain, then flash freezing, and lack of snow, they made the call to cancel.
This is the first time in the events 33 years it was cancelled due to weather.
