JACKSON, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Deputies with the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office are fielding numerous phone calls after reports of a scam artist posing as a police sergeant over the phone are making the rounds in the county.

The scam caller is asking for cash payment, gift cards, or cryptocurrency.

A second scam is also circulating. People are reporting that they’re receiving calls claiming they’ve missed jury duty and must pay immediately or be arrested.

Law enforcement is reminding everyone that they will never contact residents telling them they have warrants, nor will police ever ask for payment over the phone.
