SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Despite having nearly two feet of snow dropped on the Eastern Upper Peninsula over the weekend, Chippewa County opted to dig out and celebrate spring.

This time of year is important for producers of maple syrup, which made Michigan Maple Weekend that much sweeter in the U.P.

Maple Syrup enthusiasts flocked to open houses at Postma’s, Besteman’s, and Michigan Maple Farms. The winter storm contributed to slightly lower turnout, but owners say this year is looking good for Michigan Maple Syrup production.
