DETROIT (Michigan News Source) – Detroit Pistons General Manager Troy Weaver made two more moves setting up the new roster for the 2023-24 season. They acquired Brooklyn’s Joe Harris and 2027 and 2029 second round draft picks in exchange for cash. The other player coming to Detroit is Monte Morris from Washington. Detroit gave up Balsa Koprivica who was the 57th pick in the 2021 NBA Draft.

Before free agency started, Weaver stated, “We want to see (Monty Williams) coach this team and really get a feel for those guys. How we fill out the rest of it in free agency, whatnot, is not pressing right now. Because I think you can add and subtract from some of these young guys growing into becoming who they are. So we’re going to be careful with that before we bring in guys that can kind of deter us from really finding out who these guys are.”

Time is what Weaver waited on adding Harris and Morris a week after free agency. The two players added will help with three-point shooting in which the Pistons needed.

Harris is a 43.7 percent career three-point shooter and led the NBA in accuracy in 2018-19 and 2020-21. Morris has shot 39.2 percent from the arc and has made 37 percent of his three-pointers over the last five seasons.

Both players only have one year left on their contract for Detroit to assess next season to go with the young team Weaver has put together.
