LANSING, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – A new study shows which Michigan counties are the friendliest for small business owners.

Of the 83 counties in the state, the top 50 were ranked with Sanilac County taking the 50th spot and Emmet County taking the number one spot.

Mackinac and Grand Traverse Counties finished a respectful 2nd and 3rd.

In 2021, the IRS received 5.4 million business applications, an all-time high since the U.S. government began tracking this data in 2004.

Researchers used Census Bureau data to find the counties in Michigan with the highest concentration of small businesses, per 1,000 residents.
