GRAND HAVEN, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – A 61-year-old boater who went missing on Tuesday while boating on Lake Michigan has been found dead.
The Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office found David Split’s body in 35 feet of water on Friday night. The incident remains under investigation.
Officials started searching for Split on Tuesday night after he failed to return from his outing. Ottawa County Sheriff’s deputies assisted the Coast Guard in searching for Split and the 2006, 29 foot navy blue Searay he was driving.
The US Coast Guard found his boat the next day without Split onboard. The Coast Guard towed the boat back to Grand Haven. The search for Split continued on Thursday, but was called off on Friday after a 6,500 square mile search.
