DETROIT (Michigan News Source) – Detroit shattered attendance records for last weekend’s NFL Draft with 775,000 people making their way to the three-day event, and now the city is basking in the impending economic windfall.
The economic impact of the NFL Draft on Detroit is expected to be between $150 million and $175 million. Detroit tourism officials said final calculations expected to be completed by June may exceed those figures.

Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan said Detroiters gave a warm welcome and made a lasting impression on NFL fans who came into town. In addition, Duggan said this year’s draft partnered with local businesses which contributed to everything from food sales to VIP suites.
