WATERTOWN TOWNSHIP, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – The Clinton County Sheriff’s office reports two people are dead after a vehicle struck a group of pedestrians walking on the shoulder of the road on South Wacousta Road near Corrison Road in Watertown Township on Saturday evening.

Deputies say a vehicle driven by a 35-year-old female struck the group, then left the scene, and was eventually stopped by officers several miles away. Two pedestrians died at the scene, and thirteen others were taken to area hospitals with injuries ranging from life-threatening to minor. The ages of those injured range from toddler to senior citizens.

Deputies say alcohol is believed to be a factor in this incident, which remains under investigation.
