LANSING. (Michigan News Source) – Four days after the Michigan legislature passed financial disclosure bills, and before they were signed into law, Governor Gretchen Whitmer’s lawyer filed paperwork to form a company which would manage her family’s personal wealth according to the Detroit News.

In a new entity titled Super Deluxe LLC, the governor’s lawyer Christopher Trebilcock shared that the governor is using it to serve as the “governor’s family office to manage her personal matters,” according to Trebilcock.

The governor does not have to report the value of Super Deluxe under the new disclosure law, though she has revealed that she is a member of it.

Gov. Whitmer’s autobiography will hit bookshelves this July, after initially denying its existence.

Titled “True Gretch: What I’ve Learned About Life, Leadership, and Everything in Between,” the book is set to be published on July 9, 2024 by Simon and Schuster.

This past December, the Governor denied a report about a potential book calling it “not accurate.”

Publisher Simon and Schuster offered a glimpse into the book in a short statement.

“In this candid and inspiring book, Whitmer reveals the principles and instincts that have shaped her extraordinary career, from her early days as a lawyer and legislator and her 2018 election as governor of Michigan, to her bold and innovative actions leading her state through a series of unprecedented disasters,” the publisher said. “Her motto in politics, she writes, is to ‘get shit done.’”

In an excerpt from the book, the governor expressed some of the purpose of the book.

“In this moment, our world is thirsty for compassion, empathy, big ideas, and the grit to get shit done. No matter who you are, or what you hope to achieve, I hope this book will help you find the good and use it to make a difference. I’ll be doing the same alongside you.”

Gov. Whitmer discloses some finance particulars.

Gov. Whitmer reported more than $2.3 million in the value of her investment and stock accounts, as well as her nearly $159,000 annual salary as governor according to the Detroit News.

She has not disclosed how much the book deal is worth, though some, including Michigan Republican Party chairman Pete Hoekstra have called on her to do so. Other politicians who have published books can make tremendous profits, including Andrew Cuomo, who was paid just over $5 million for his memoir published in 2020.
