MARQUETTE, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Marquette County will spend up to $9 million to build a PFAS treatment plant at the Marquette County Landfill.

The county board approved a bond this week for the plant as PFAS chemicals don’t break down and can cause cancer and other health problems.

Officials said if the plant is not built by 2027, it could cost three-times as much. The landfill receives around 60,000 tons of solid waste every year.
