DETROIT, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Playoff hopes are still alive for the Detroit Red Wings thanks to Lucas Raymond in a 5-4 overtime win over Montreal. Raymond had the game-tying goal with 1:17 left in the game and netted the winning goal at 4:35 in over time in the final home game of 2024.

Heading into the game, Detroit needed to earn at least three-points vs. Montreal in the final two games against them as Washington and Philadelphia have the tiebreakers with more regulation wins. Now, Detroit needs just one point to stay in contention for the second wild card. Washington and Detroit both have 89 points but the Capitals have more regulation wins as both have one game left in the season.
