SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – The second of three phases of a housing project in Chippewa County started last week to provide housing for Soo Locks construction workers.

The Kinross housing project officially opened its doors to tenants last July which is currently housing 55 workers. The second phase is expected to be finished this July, which will include a recreation facility and an additional 38 room dormitory.

The 10-acre property is home to dorm-like apartments near Chippewa County International Airport and workers who stay there have a 30 minute commute to the Soo Locks.

Phase 3 will get underway next May and add three more dorms.
