Michigan is predicted to be a major player in the 2024 election, and the GOP frontrunner has taken notice. Trump visited Grand Rapids on April 2 just following the murder of 25-year-old Ruby Garcia by her illegal immigrant boyfriend Brandon Ortiz-Vite. The influx of illegal immigrants into the U.S. and the Biden’s administration’s refusal to shore-up the border continues to be a major pillar of Trump’s platform.

Recent policy pushes from both sides of the aisle in Michigan should also give Trump something to talk about as well. Recently, Republican leaders in Michigan visited the border and demanded the National Guard be deployed to the border to add more security. In addition, Democratic Gov. Gretchen Whitmer is looking to grow Michigan, in part, by offering financial incentives to “newcomers” which includes illegal immigrants.
