DOWAGIAC, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – It may be the end of an era.

Two of the most well-known drive-in theaters in Michigan have announced they are closing. The 5-Mile Drive-In located in Dowagiac is closing because of a personal family issue. That decision will also impact the Sunset Drive-In located in Hartford.

The company posted this statement on its website:

“It is with a heavy heart that we announce the closure of 5 Mile Drive-In theater this summer. As a family-owned establishment, our operations are deeply intertwined with the well-being of our own family members. Unforeseen health challenges within our family require us to take a step back at this time.

In light of this, both 5 Mile Drive-In and its sister theater Sunset Drive-In are available for sale. Should you have any inquiries or wish to explore opportunities further, please reach out.

We can’t thank you all enough for the love and support you’ve shown us. We hope your summer is filled with fun adventures!”
