LANSING, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Lawmakers on both sides of the political aisle put their differences aside this week and came together for a good cause.

The second annual Legislative Softball Game for Charity raised $34,000 for Ele’s Place, an organization dedicated to aiding grieving kids through a range of services like peer-to-peer support groups and bereavement counseling.

Reps. Tom Kunse (R-Clare) and Alabas Farhat (D-Dearborn) organized the game played at Jackson Stadium in Lansing, home of the Lansing Lugnuts.

“It was great to see everyone come together and support Ele’s Place,” Kunse said. “This organization does fantastic work in supporting our young people. Our donations will go a long way in aiding those efforts.”

As for the ballgame, Republicans took a commanding 5-0 lead in the first inning off back-to-back home runs from Reps. Graham Filler and Joe Aragona. Republicans ended the game with 15 hits from 27 batters.

Planning will soon be underway for the third annual Legislative Softball Game for Charity scheduled for Spring 2025.
