DETROIT (Michigan News Source) – U.S. Attorney for Eastern District of Michigan Dawn Ison plans to resign just one day before President-elect Donald Trump is sworn into office.
President Joe Biden nominated Ison in 2021. She was the first Black woman to hold the position.

While police data showed a drop in crime in Detroit during Ison’s tenure, those same stats correlated with fewer criminal filings.
Ison did not announce her future job plans but will be replaced by First Assistant U.S. Attorney Julie Beck in the interim.
