LANSING, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Hunters in Michigan killed more deer in 2024 than the previous year, according to a report from the Michigan Department of Natural Resources (DNR).

The survey found hunters harvested 373,300 deer in 2024, which is a 7.6% increase from 2023. The antlerless harvest drove those numbers.

In addition, 604,088 people purchased a license last year. The number of deer hunters has dropped 31% since 1995, which averages out to 1.3% decline annually.

The DNR said 523,926 people hunted deer in 2024, which marked a 1% increase over 2023.
