ST. LOUIS, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – An attorney is accused of trying to smuggle drugs into the Central Michigan Correction Facility in Gratiot County.

The Michigan Department of Corrections (MDOC) said officials recovered a large amount of contraband following an attorney/client visit earlier this week. They said guards saw the attorney passing a package to the incarcerated client.  Officers found 211 strips of suspected Suboxone, 68 grams of a brown waxy substance, and 45 grams of white powder on the prisoner.

A search of the attorney’s car uncovered additional Suboxone strips and white powder.

Michigan State Police are continuing to investigate the attorney and the prisoner faces his own investigation and discipline.
