EAST LANSING, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Michigan State University’s Board of Trustees approved the installation of a $3.2 million memorial to remember those killed in the campus mass shooting on February 13, 2023.
The shooting took the lives of Alex Verner, Brian Fraser, and Arielle Anderson. In addition, five other students were severely injured.

The final design includes a fountain, benches, and plants in the old horticultural garden near the student services building.
Verner family lawyer David Femminineo said MSU president Kevin M. Guskiewicz worked closely with the victims’ families in choosing the design and location of the memorial.
MSU officials said the $3.2 project will be partially funded with $300,000 from the Spartan Strong fund. The remaining funds will come from capital reserves.
