DETROIT (Michigan News Source) – Juries found two men guilty on Friday of first-degree murder and unlawful imprisonment for posing as DTE workers, entering a Rochester Hills home, and killing a jewelry store owner.

Joshua Zuazo and Carlos Hernandez will be sentenced on Dec. 9 for the murder of 73-year-old Hussein Murray in his home. Murray’s wife, Linda Murray, testified at the trial.

Zuazo and Hernandez posed as DTE Energy workers who visited the Murray home on Oct. 10, 2024. They claimed they needed to check for a gas leak, but the Murray’s denied them entry because of the late hour. The men returned the next day where they took Hussein Murray to the basement and tied him up, and killed him. Then, the men came upstairs and demanded jewelry and cash from Linda Murray.

Hernandez’s attorney claims his client never intended to kill Murray; Zuazo’s attorney maintains his client was wrongly identified and was not at the scene.
