LANSING, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Actor Kevin Sorbo has chimed in on the controversy over politicians attending the Winter Olympic games, asking why FBI Director Kash Patel is under scrutiny but not Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer.
The Washington Post and many other progressive media outlets have run stories critical of Patel for joining in with the U.S. men’s hockey team post-gold medal celebrations in the locker room.

Whitmer posted a video of herself at the with a cowbell wrapped around her neck at the U.S. women’s hockey game in Italy. She also posted video of herself doing behind the scenes interviews with Olympic athletes.
Sorbo, best known for playing the lead role in the TV series Hercules that ran from 1995-1999, was one of many conservatives claiming the media had a double standard.
“I was told that Kash was a traitor for this,” Sorbo said. “So what does that make Gretchen?”
Republican leaders in Michigan has been critical of Whitmer for taking a trip to overseas while the state has among the highest unemployment rates in the country at 5% and academic performance has lagged.
“Hey, Madam Governor: How’s the ‘trade mission’ going?” State Rep. Bryan Posthumus (R-Cannon Township) posted on Feb. 19. “The moment she returns, I hope every journalist in this state asks ‘how much did it cost’ until we get an answer. This is simply an insult to taxpayers.”
The Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) stated what Whitmer would be doing on her trip to Italy.

“Governor Gretchen Whitmer transitions Michigan’s ongoing European investment mission from Germany to Italy, continuing Team Michigan’s efforts to strengthen international partnerships, attract new investment, and reinforce the state’s leadership in defense, manufacturing, and national security,” the MEDC stated in a press release. “Building on productive engagements with allies and industry leaders in Germany, Governor Whitmer and the Michigan delegation will continue the mission in Italy, where they will meet with Italian business, government, and industry leaders to highlight Michigan’s competitive advantages in defense, aerospace, advanced manufacturing, and mobility, while advancing opportunities for job creation and long-term economic growth.”
