BOYNE CITY, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Boyne City native Kaila Kuhn’s Olympic journey took a golden turn this weekend.
After narrowly missing the podium in the Freestyle Ski Aerials event — finishing just two spots shy of a medal on Wednesday — the 22-year-old rebounded in spectacular fashion. On Saturday morning, Kuhn soared to gold as part of Team USA’s Mixed Team Aerials squad at her second Winter Olympic Games.

Rather than dwelling on the earlier disappointment, Kuhn channeled it into one of the biggest moments of her career.
Teaming up with Connar Curran of Ohio and Christopher Lillis of New York, the trio delivered under pressure, combining for a winning score of 325.35 to claim the top spot on the podium. Switzerland earned silver, while China finished with bronze.
Kuhn’s finals performance was a showstopper. She executed a Back-Full-Full-Full — one of the most technically demanding jumps in the sport — and earned a 94.44 score, helping seal the victory for Team USA.
For the Boyne City standout, the gold medal was more than just hardware. It marked resilience and redemption.
