ANN ARBOR, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Former University of Michigan head football coach Sherrone Moore has accepted a plea deal in a criminal case stemming from an incident involving a former staff member.
Court records show Moore pleaded no contest Friday to two misdemeanor charges in Washtenaw County District Court: malicious use of a telecommunications device in a domestic relationship and trespassing.

The plea agreement resulted in prosecutors dropping more serious charges, including felony home invasion, originally filed after Moore’s arrest in December 2025.
The case stems from allegations that Moore went to the home of a University of Michigan staff member following the end of an extramarital relationship and made threatening statements. Authorities said the situation escalated after UM fired more for having what officials described as an “inappropriate relationship” with a staffer.
Police previously alleged Moore entered the woman’s apartment and threatened to harm himself while holding kitchen knives during the incident.
Moore had initially faced multiple charges, including home invasion and stalking, but the plea deal reduced the case to the two misdemeanor offenses.
Moore appeared in court with his wife on Friday when the agreement was finalized. Sentencing in the case is scheduled for April 14, and the misdemeanor charges each carry potential jail time, including up to six months for malicious use of a telecommunications device and 30 days for trespassing.
