HARBOR SPRINGS, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – The Tunnel of Trees in Northern Michigan welcomes travelers to a beautiful color tour each fall. However, two sections of the famous route remain closed for an indefinite period after severe spring flooding damaged two sections of the roadway.

The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) said the 22-mile stretch of M-119 along Lake Michigan has no clear timeline for repairs, nor do officials know how much the repairs will cost. Flooding destabilized one section, while water washed out another section entirely.
