LAKE CITY, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Michigan State Police detectives are continuing to investigate the deaths of six people, including a 39-year-old gunman, at three locations in Missaukee County.

Troopers were dispatched to a home on South LaChance Road in Lake Township just before noon Friday, Aug. 14, where they found a 45-year-old man, a 40-year-old woman and a 16-year-old boy dead.

A 13-year-old girl was also found shot and injured at the home. Michigan State Police say she is recovering at a hospital and has been upgraded to stable condition.

The discovery prompted troopers to launch a large-scale search of the area.

During the investigation, police found a fourth victim, a 53-year-old man, dead at a second home in Missaukee County.

A fifth victim, a 29-year-old woman, was later found dead along with the 39-year-old gunman in a wooded area.

Investigators have developed a preliminary timeline of the shootings, but a motive has not been determined.

Michigan State Police have not publicly identified the victims or disclosed their relationships to one another or to the gunman. The investigation remains ongoing.
