HOUGHTON, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Michigan Technological University has broken ground on a student wellness center backed by the largest individual gift in the school’s history.
The 78,400-square-foot Chang K. Park Center for Student Wellness will bring health care, fitness and mental health services under one roof.

Plans include an urgent care clinic supported by UP Health System–Portage, a fitness floor, therapy offices and meditation rooms.
The center will be built in the parking area between the university’s Administration and Memorial Union buildings.
The building’s namesake, Chang Park, donated $55 million toward the project, which university officials say is the largest individual gift in Michigan Tech’s history.
Construction is scheduled to begin in a few weeks, with completion expected by fall 2028.
