GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Michigan residents are being asked to take precautions when outside to prevent the spread of West Nile Virus.
The Kent County Health Department confirms the first case of West Nile Virus in the state this year.
The health department confirmed earlier this week that the case was detected in Wyoming in the 49519 zip code.
Officials recommend people take precautions if outdoors including using a mosquito repellent, dump any standing water like in bird baths and wading pools and make sure pet water bowls are filled with fresh water.
