FLINT, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – A new cancer treatment is coming to the McLaren Proton Therapy Center in Flint.

The technology treats patients upright allowing for more precise treatment.

The upright treatment is pending approval from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and could take several years.

Proton therapy is a type of radiation therapy that allows more precise targeting of the tumor cells, sparing the healthy surrounding tissue.

“The Marie Units” will allow more patients to be treated. McLaren hopes to be fully operational by Fall of 2024.
