PONTIAC, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – A former Pontiac mayor could be in trouble after outside auditors discovered she used a city credit card for personal expenses.
The auditors report Deirdre Waterman used the card to cover personal expenses. In addition, the audit shows she took an unauthorized trip to New York City on taxpayer funds and threw two farewell parties in December that cost the city thousands in unapproved expenses.
The Pontiac city council is expected to pass a resolution this week to submit the auditors’ findings to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for possible criminal charges.
The council wants restitution for her spending as well.
Waterman denies any wrongdoing.
