DETROIT (Michigan News Source) – A Detroit-area company is opening a new factory in the Great Lakes State.

Lear Corporation will open an $80 million manufacturing facility in Michigan to make parts for General Motors’ electric vehicles.

The company says it has been selected as GM’s exclusive supplier of battery disconnect units for the Ultium electric vehicle platform. Lear officials say it is the company’s largest investment in the EV focused platform.

Lear makes automotive seating and electrical systems. It has employees in 38 countries.
