LANSING, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – For the second consecutive year, Michigan’s population has gone down with almost 3,400 people leaving the Great Lakes state in the last year.

That means about 40,000 less people in the state since the 2020 census.

There are a combination of factors, including higher death rates and fewer births.

Nationally, the population has grown by .4%. The goal now facing leaders is how to get people to move to Michigan.
