SAGINAW, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – The U.S. Coast Guard has rescued 25 people from ice floes on Lake Michigan and Lake Huron this week.
Crews rescued five adults and six children on Monday night in Lake Michigan near Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin. Meanwhile, rescuers worked to pull 14 people from Saginaw Bay in Lake Huron shortly after that.
Coast Guard Captain Timothy Holt says the large ice rescues “highlight the unpredictability of the ice on the Great Lakes, especially with fluctuating temperatures.”
